Alstom has been present in China for almost 60 years. It is one of the first Western companies to start business in China, well before the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France in 1964. Alstom won its first railway project in 1958, supplying 25 locomotives to the Baocheng Line, China’s first electrified railway. Since then, Alstom has participated in a wide range of railway projects in China, including metros, high-speed trains, locomotives, and trams. To address the rapid development of the Chinese railway system, Alstom has a long-standing commitment to serving Chinese national and urban rail transport markets with efficient, reliable, sustainable, and "Made in China" solutions.
